A Call for Global Action

The Resilient Voices project was officially launched on 10th April 2025 during the prestigious Global Power Women Awards (GPWA) held at the luxurious Corinthia London. Spearheaded by the Centre for Economic and Leadership Development (CELD), in strategic collaboration with Days for Girls UK and the celebrated filmmaker, advocate, and humanitarian Mrs. Omoni Oboli, the launch marked a significant and inspiring moment on the global stage. More than just an event, it ignited a powerful call to action to confront some of the most pressing challenges facing women and girls across the world, period poverty, menstrual stigma, gender-based violence, and systemic inequality. The atmosphere was charged with purpose and solidarity as leaders, changemakers, and advocates came together to amplify a shared vision: to dismantle barriers to dignity, health, leadership, and opportunity for every girl and woman, no matter her background or circumstance. The Resilient Voices project embodies a bold, collective commitment to transform awareness into tangible change, building a future rooted in equality, empowerment, and peace.

Despite decades of global advocacy and progress, the world continues to grapple with the persistent and painful realities of gender inequality. In many low-income countries, one in ten girls is forced to miss school due to the lack of access to menstrual products or because of the deep-seated shame and stigma associated with menstruation. This disruption in education not only affects their immediate learning but also has long-term consequences on their economic opportunities and empowerment. Every year, more than twelve million girls are married before reaching the age of eighteen, a practice that heightens their vulnerability to physical, emotional, and sexual violence, while systematically excluding them from education, leadership, and decision-making spaces. Furthermore, gender-based violence, ranging from domestic abuse to systemic discrimination, remains one of the most underreported yet devastating human rights violations worldwide. Its impact reverberates across generations, undermining health, stability, peace, and economic development. Addressing these entrenched challenges is not just a moral obligation; it is essential for building resilient, equitable, and prosperous societies where every girl and woman can thrive.

Resilient Voices is an answer to these silent crises, a movement determined to create pathways to dignity, leadership, and peace for women and girls worldwide.

A Vision for Dignity, Equity, and Empowerment

At its core, the Resilient Voices project envisions a world where no woman or girl is ever denied her dignity because of menstruation, poverty, or violence. It strives to break down the entrenched barriers of menstrual inequity, period shame, and gender-based violence that continue to limit the potential of millions globally. Through a bold blend of passionate advocacy, creative storytelling, and evidence-based interventions, Resilient Voices seeks to spark lasting societal change. Guided by a mission that is firmly action-driven, the project is committed to providing widespread access to menstrual health products and education, empowering women and girls with the knowledge and resources they deserve. It also works tirelessly to challenge and dismantle the deep-rooted stigma and taboos surrounding menstruation, shifting public narratives toward pride, health, and normalcy. Beyond health, Resilient Voices stands as a powerful advocate for gender-equity policies and the fundamental human rights of women and girls. Central to its efforts is the amplification of real stories, sharing the lived experiences of women and girls through the powerful mediums of film, research, and public engagement, ensuring that their voices are heard, respected, and ultimately drive the change the world urgently needs.

Highlights of the Launch Speech

Delivering the keynote, Dr. Mrs. Ibifuro Ken-Giami, Founder of CELD, captured the audience’s heart with a stirring call to conscience. She emphasized that menstrual health is not just a health issue, it is a human right, and that period poverty represents a denial of dignity, education, and opportunity.

In her words, “Through Resilient Voices, we are not just raising awareness—we are driving action.”
She outlined the campaign’s commitment to:

  • Champion menstrual equity through inclusive policy and investment.
  • Amplify lived experiences through storytelling and research.
  • Support community-led, sustainable menstrual health innovations.
  • Break the silence and end stigma around menstruation and gender violence.

Strategic Collaborators Powering the Movement

At the heart of Resilient Voices lies a powerful alliance of visionary collaborators, each bringing a unique strength to the mission of dignity, equity, and empowerment. From the research halls of academia to grassroots activism and the cinematic lens of advocacy, the campaign is fortified by a trifecta of passionate, purpose-driven partners.

The Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice (CHRP) at the University of Southampton ensures that every step of the campaign is grounded in rigorous research, data integrity, and human-centered insights. Days for Girls UK brings its global expertise and grassroots momentum to the movement, equipping communities with sustainable menstrual health solutions and education. Meanwhile, celebrated filmmaker and humanitarian Mrs. Omoni Oboli breathes life into unheard stories, using film and storytelling to elevate voices often silenced by stigma and inequality.

Adding an unforgettable moment of inspiration to the launch, Her Excellency Ann Marie Davis, Spouse of the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, passionately endorsed the campaign, declaring, “Our voice is our power.” Her words echoed as a rallying cry throughout the event, a reminder that change begins when we choose to speak, to act, and to unite.

Together, these strategic partnerships form the engine of Resilient Voices; a coalition where policy meets passion, data meets dignity, and real-life voices spark global transformation.
