She is a source of inspiration to women and young girls in Nigeria, especially, the North Eastern part where she comes from. Her Education and Career successes are also sources of inspiration to parents, in their quest to send the female child to school in order to acquire education.

Born on December 25th, 1952, she went to school at a time when few parents bothered about the girl child education, and obtained her first School Leaving Certificate in 1964. While young girls of her age were being married out, the young Hannatu, went on to Secondary School, where she obtained the West African School Certificate, in 1969, went further to obtain the Higher School Certificate, (HSC), in 1971, and capped it up , with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1976. She was also honoured with a Doctorate Degree in Mgt. from Commonwealth University, Belize.

She participated in the mandatory National Youths Service Corps, in 1977, and returned to her Borno Home State, where she started her working career as a Civil Servant in the State Civil Service.

She was recruited as an Assistant Secretary, and rose steadily to become a Director before transferring her Service to the Federal Civil Service, in 1990, as a Deputy Director.

In that capacity, she worked at the Office of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, moved on to the National Commission for Women Affairs, where she became an asset in the development of Policies that gave birth to the Better Life for Rural Women in Nigeria, the pet project of Her Excellency, Mrs. Maryam Babangida, under the Military regime of the 1980s. That Programme, became the first and one of the most impactful programmes that truly mobilized Nigerian women, towards achieving improved quality of life.

In July, 2007, Dr (Mrs.) Hannatu Adamu Fika, moved on and became the Director/Secretary of the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board, where she rose to the position of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Board. She took over the leadership of a Board that was almost moribund, with a record of giving Housing Loans to only 12,556, public servants, since it was HER LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO BUILDING A STRONGER NATION by President Barack Obama of United State of America.

The challenge before her was that the population of Federal Public Servants, was and is still, growing rapidly and putting pressure on Housing requirements of the Board. Mrs Hannatu Adamu Fika, rose to this challenge and designed policies and strategies that ensured proper computerization/documentation of Loans records/beneficiaries; promoted accountability and transparency in the implementation of the scheme and brought in private developers on a Public Private Partnership initiative and other various schemes, aimed at reducing the nation’s housing deficit.

This is helping public servants, to become owners of Homes across the country at affordable rate. The impact, these have made, is that so far, the number of public servants who have benefited from Housing Loans, under the Board rose from mere 12,556, in 2007 to 30, 212 and she is still counting. Her career successes have also been a source of inspiration to younger generation of public servants who encountered her.

Her commitment to the provision of welfare needs of public servants especially housing, has earned her local and international recognition.
